Free Entrepreneurship Briefings Sessions and Skills Training During the SME Development Week

The 2006 Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Week, with the theme “Sulong Negosyo” will be celebrated from July 17 to 23. During the celebration, there will be free entrepreneurial briefings and skills training on July 20-23 at Seminar Rooms A and B of Trade Hall A in Market! Market!, Bonifacio Global City. The conduct of these activities is aimed at providing existing and would-be entrepreneurs with the necessary skills and knowledge to become competitive players in the local and global market.

Topics for the free briefing sessions include the following: July 20: Briefing on General Trends with One-On-One product consultation for gifts and housewares, packaging and furniture sector; and Value Added Products from Tilapia and Bangus; July 21: Assistance to Aircon and Refrigerator Shops; How to Grow Jatropha for Biodiesel; Technopreneurship; Conflict Resolution; Packaging and Labeling; Guide to R.A. 9178: Barangay Micro Business Enterprises (BMBEs) Act of 2002; Dehydration and Drying Technologies for Fish, Fruits and Vegetables; and Business Risk Management; July 22: Putting Your Business On-line; Franchising; Promotion of Virgin Coconut Oil; Starting Your Business; Dried Fruits; Intellectual Property; Effective Customer Service; Food Safety; and Franchising; July 23: Hands-on Demo Using Coconut Fronds as Decorative Accessories.

Courses for the skills training include: July 20: Balloon and Flower Arrangement; July 21: Chocolate Molding; and July 22: Flip-Flops Making; and July 23: Basic Beadworks. A minimum fee will be charged for these courses to cover the cost of materials used.

The entrepreneurship briefings and skills training are just one of the various activities lined-up for the SME EXPO which is the highlight of the SME Week Celebration. There will also be exhibits, business counseling, film showings and a selling fair showcasing diverse regional products.
